Machine web browser, often called the layout engine, or rendering engine, is a software component that takes marked up content (such as HTML files, XML, images, etc.) and formatting information (such as CSS, XSL, etc.) and displays the formatted content on the screen that is displayed on a monitor or printer. A web browser engine is usually embedded in a web browser, e-mail client, on-line help system or other applications that require editing and displaying web content.

Some Examples of Web Browser Engine:

Gecko

Gecko is a designation for the rendering engine created by Netscape in 1998 and owned by the Netscape Navigator web browser which then opened the source code (open source) through the organization Mozilla.org. Gecko is cross-platform (can be used anywhere, from Win32, GNU, Unix and many others), designed in modular form, quick, and of course lighter. Gecko supports multiple Internet standards, including HTML, XML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and the Document Object Model (DOM).

WebKit

WebKit is a layout engine designed for web browsers to render web pages. Webkit engine provides a set of classes to display the contents of the window, and apply it to the web browser features, such as: follow the links when clicked by the user, set the back-forward list, and records the page you just visited. This machine was developed by the people at Apple, Inc.. Originally derived from property KHTML Konqueror (Linux). Browsers that use this machine is the Mac's Safari, Google Chrome, and several others.

Presto

This machine was developed and used by Opera and Opera only was the only browser use., Which was released on January 28, 2003 in Opera 7 for Windows, and at the Opera 11 is still used. Presto is dynamic: the page or section can be given back in response to DOM and script events. Presto is available only as part of Opera browser or related products; source or binary (DLL) form of the machine is not available to the public. Subsequent releases have seen a number of bugs fixed and optimization to increase the speed of the engine (JavaScript) ECMAScript

Trident

This machine is used by Internet Explorer have a Windows, and some other Windows specific browsers. Obviously made by Microsoft. Trident (also known as MSHTML) is the name of the layout engine for the Microsoft Windows version of Internet Explorer.
First introduced with the release version of Internet Explorer 4.0 in October 1997, continues to be improved and used fixed until today. For versions 7 and 8 of Internet Explorer, Microsoft made significant changes to the Trident layout engine to increase compliance with web standards and adds support for new technologies [2] [3] [4] With version 9 of the Internet Explorer., Microsoft intends to adjust with modern web standards, and also intend to update the layout engine is significantly more competitive and modern compared to the current layout engine. Trident was designed as a software component that allows software developers to easily add web browsing functionality to their own applications. It provides a COM interface to access and edit your web pages in COM-supported environment, like C + + and. NET. For example, web browser control can be added to C + + program and then Trident can be used to access a page that is displayed in a web browser and retrieve the value of the element. Activities of the web browser control can also be arrested. Trident serves as liaison between the mshtml.dll file to the software project.
