Is an integrated collection of data arranged in a logical and controlled centrally.
Database alone did not contain any meaning and value.
Example: Presence student, employee data, telephone books and so forth.
F. Understanding Information
What is the actual information, so it is important for a system? In general, information can be defined as data that is processed into a form that is more useful and more meaningful for those who receive it.
Sources of information is data. Data is the plural of the singular form datum or data-item. The data is the fact that it describes an events and real unity. Genesis-kejadin (event) is something that happens at any given moment. Real unity (fact and entity) is in the form of a tangible object such as places, objects and people who really exist and happen.
Concluded that:
Information is a collection of data that is processed as an additional knowledge to help make decisions.
Quality Information
The quality of information (quality of information) depends on three things, that information must be accurate (accurate), just in time (timeliness) and relevant (relevance). John Burch and Gary Grudnitski describe the quality of information from the three main pillars namely; accurate, timely, and relevant. But in addition to the three issues above there is also adding two more elements of completeness and clarity of information.
Accurate, means that information must be free from mistakes and not biased or misleading. The information should clearly reflect the intention because of the source information to the recipient much information possible interference (noise) that can alter or destroy information.
Just in time, means the information that came at the recipient should not be too late. Information that is outdated will have no value anymore, because the information is a cornerstone in the decision-making, when making a decision too late, it can be fatal to the organization.
Relevant, means that information has benefits for the wearer. The relevance of information for each person differ from one another.

Cycle Information
Data is a raw form that still can not tell you a lot, so need to be further processed. The data are processed to produce information using a particular process model. Furthermore, recipients of information to make a decision and take action, which means making other actions which will create some data back. The data is captured as an input, processed again through a model and so form a cycle. This cycle is by John Burch called the cycle of information (information cycle). This cycle is also called the cycle of data processing (data processing cycles).
